Lake Caldonazzo, located in the picturesque Valsugana, is an ideal destination for those who love water sports and outdoor activities.
With its crystal-clear waters, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of mountains and green hills, the lake offers a wide range of options for fun, relaxing and unforgettable adventures.
Windsurfing
Lake Caldonazzo is a paradise for windsurfing enthusiasts. Thanks to the regular winds that blow across its surface, the lake provides the ideal conditions for practising this exciting sport. Both beginners and experienced windsurfers will find the perfect environment here to improve their skills and enjoy the thrill of gliding through the water driven by the wind.
The prevailing winds are the Vigolana, a thermal wind that rises almost every day around three in the afternoon and allows you to glide with very large sails, the Levegana, which usually arrives when thunderstorms form in the distance in Valsugana, which does not last very long but allows you to have fun with very strong winds, and finally the Tramontana, also called S. Cristofer, which arrives from the north and forms a reasonable wave as well as very strong winds.
Waterskiing
For adrenaline lovers, Lake Caldonazzo also offers the opportunity to go water-skiing. With its large surface area and the presence of schools and specialised centres, the lake is the ideal place to try out this water sport. Whether you are a beginner and keen to learn or an expert looking for a new challenge, here you will find everything you need for an unforgettable experience on waterskis.
Engines of up to 4 horsepower may be used on the lake. For enthusiasts, there is Sci Nautico Trento, a centre of excellence at national level run by Marco Degasperi, father and coach of three-time slalom world champion Thomas Degasperi.
The centre is excellent for both beginners and experienced skiers and is equipped with a regulation slalom course, wake board bar and barefoot ski bar.

Canoeing
If you prefer a more peaceful activity in touch with nature, Lake Caldonazzo invites you to explore its shores and hidden bays by canoe or kayak. Paddling on the crystal-clear waters, you can admire the surrounding landscape from a unique perspective and discover corners of paradise only accessible from the lake. Rent a canoe or kayak and set off on an adventure, enjoying the silence and peace of this wonderful stretch of water.
In recent years, Italian youth canoe championships have been held here. The Caldonazzo sailing club organises canoe courses in summer.
Sailing
There are three sailing clubs around the lake: the Velica, the Cus and the Caldonazzo sailing club, which organise various sailing competitions and beginners' courses throughout the summer season.
As with wind surfing, sailing makes use of the thermal wind that comes from the southwest, which usually rises around three in the afternoon, and guarantees safe and fun sailing. The Levegana, which usually arrives when thunderstorms form in the distance in Valsugana, doesn't last very long, but allows for some fun in very strong winds.
The Tramontana, also called S. Cristofer, comes from the north and forms a decent wave in addition to well-stretched winds.
